Cardiff & Vale University Health Board (CVUHB)Refurbishment of Labs in Llandough Hospital, Ground Floor. Working adjacent to Live Labs so hoarding and sealing was required.
New stud-work walls were constructed & skimmed together with new doors & frames to suit the new layout consisting of the laboratory, Meeting Room, Offices, Fridge/freezer incubator room and store, corridor Molecular Lab and other rooms to a laboratory spec.
New finishes throughout: vinyl sheet flooring, suspended solid sealed ceiling in the Cat 3 room, suspended ceiling grid throughout, incorporating new light fittings, fire detection and ventilation grilles, numerous cooling units throughout.
The electrical, IT, telecommunications were installed to suit the layout; electrical circuits were wired back in to the new distribution board.
A natural gas outlet was provided in the Lab. Supply already existed within the ceiling void and was picked up from this point.
The heating and ventilation services were adapted to cater for the new service requirements.
The air from the Cat 3 room was extracted via the specialist safety cabinets with air being provided from the circulation corridor, the existing ventilation system needed to be modified to satisfy the new layout and to complement/supplement the removed air.
The existing Aluminium windows & external door were removed and renewed within the area of the works. The external door was removed and replaced with a wider door as the existing did not conform to the minimum requirements for even an existing building.
CCTV was provided to monitor access to the unit.
