"It was a pleasure to work with Andrew Scott on our a unique addition to the Bassaleg Comprehensive School portfolio"
Newport City CouncilThis new purpose designed Arts block at Bassaleg Comprehensive School provides 4 new large art classrooms on a steeply sloping site adjacent to the school boundary. The facility also provides a display area and computer graphics room.
The structure and materials consist of load bearing cavity walls to the lower level with fairfaced blockwork external skin, steel frame to upper levels with colour coated composite cladding panels, and a curved profile metal roofing system on lattice beams.
It was important to make the building fully accessible hence it incorporates 2 lifts and external ramps. Internally the building is fitted out with high specification fixtures and fittings.
Part of the contract was to provide a new all weather pitch in front of the Arts block, with changing room facilities within the basement void of the new building.
