Women in Construction
The majority of women overlook construction as a possible career path and an industry that is available to them.
Statistics suggest that females make up only 1% of those employed in building trades in the UK. Councils, Central Governments
and companies within the industry are attempting to encourage women to develop a career in this industry; they are acutely
aware of the need for diversity and equality within this sector.
In Andrew Scotts earlier years the initial roles acquired by women were predominantly administrative.
However, in recent years we have actively sought women to fill the technical roles as well as training and promoting
administrative staff into more senior positions.
We currently employ numerous women at Andrew Scott who carry out roles that were perhaps once perceived as traditionally male.
"The industry presents a dynamic and challenging career path to both men and women, with no two jobs the same.
It offers the potential to continually learn and develop analytical skills".
