Integrated Transport Hub

A modern and accessible gateway to Port Talbot Town Centre

The construction of the new Port Talbot Integrated Transport Hub marks a significant step in the regeneration of the town centre, creating a vibrant and accessible gateway that centralises key transport links and supports seamless, sustainable travel.

This flagship scheme brings together Port Talbot Parkway railway station, a newly constructed bus terminal, dedicated cycle facilities, a taxi rank, and designated drop-off/pick-up bays, all integrated within a predominantly pedestrianised public concourse. The hub is designed to enhance connectivity between residential and employment areas in and around Port Talbot, promoting active travel and improving accessibility for all users.

Key works included the realignment of the A48 Heilbronn Way and Talbot Road, enabling the creation of a safer, more efficient traffic flow while freeing space for the transport hub’s pedestrian-friendly layout. The design emphasises functionality, user experience, and visual appeal, delivering a modern, attractive public realm.

The Port Talbot Integrated Transport Hub not only improves transport infrastructure but also contributes to the town’s wider regeneration efforts, supporting economic growth, reducing congestion, and encouraging the use of sustainable modes of travel.

The new transport hub has brought together bus, rail, taxi, cycle and pedestrian facilities in a safe modern environment that has created a vibrant gateway for Port Talbot town. Improvements such as these are essential in supporting businesses and stimulating the local economy.
