Andrew Scott Ltd has recently commenced works on the £3.5m regeneration and repurposing of the Grade II Listed Watton Mount and Coach House in Brecon, for NPTC Group of Colleges.
Watton Mount was constructed in the early to mid C19th and is a well-known and well-loved local building. It is a Grade II Listed structure, listed on 31st May 1961.
The College wish to relocate a substantial part of its Brecon Campus to a more suitable and central location within Brecon town centre. The central location within Brecon will improve access to students and provide better facilities.
The relocation is essential for the college’s future sustainability and integration into the town. It is hoped that the move will be mutually beneficial for both Brecon’s Town centre and the College.
The works will require fit out and refurbishment, mechanical and electrical works, associated building works and minor external improvement works.
Proposed usage for Watton Mount includes information technology and a hair & beauty teaching area. The Coach House will be used for a real-world teaching/training environment commercial hair and beauty salon.
Works are due to be completed towards the end of Summer 2024. We look forward to working with NPTC Group of Colleges and AECOM on this project.
Andrew Scott Ltd Managing Director, Mark Bowen, said “we are delighted to be working with NPTC Group of Colleges on this prestigious Grade II Listed Building. The new facilities and commercial opportunities will help to drive footfall into Brecon, and we are committed to delivering sustainable employment, training and community initiatives that will benefit the local community. Although retrofitting heritage buildings is challenging, almost 20% of the UK building stock is listed and we are committed to playing our part in transforming and reusing existing iconic buildings.”
